The budget passed by the Legislature and signed by the Governor contains $150 million in one-time funding to implement the Guided Pathways Grant Program – a systemwide effort to reengineer the college experience so more students can successfully complete certificates and degrees. Community college CTE students will now see a doubling of the Cal Grant C award from $547 to $1,094. Cal Grant recipients will also see an increase (up to $400 per year to a maximum award of $1,000) in the supplemental Full-Time Student Success Grant for students taking 12 or more credits per term. The budget also creates a new financial aid program, the Community College Completion Grant program, that provides an additional supplement of up to $2,000 per year for eligible Cal Grant recipients attending school full time.
