CA EDGE Coalition’s Comments to the Future of Work Commission

The CA EDGE Coalition submitted a comment letter to the Future of Work Commission expressing the importance of ensuring all Californians have quality jobs that provide a living wage, stability, access to benefits and have opportunities for training and career advancement. As the Commission works towards finalizing key recommendations for the Governor and Legislature, we also urge that the recommendations be drafted through a racial equity lens in order to ensure employment and education opportunities are accessible to underserved communities.

The Future of Work Commission was established by Governor Newsom in May 2019 with the goal to study, understand, analyze, and make recommendations regarding the kinds of jobs Californians could have in the decades to come; with a focus on the impact of technology, job quality, wages, worker safety net protections, preservation of good jobs, workforce education and ensure shared prosperity for all.

The Commission is set to meet this Thursday, July 30th at 10:00 am. More information can be found here: https://www.labor.ca.gov/labor-and-workforce-development-agency/meetings/
