Election season has been, and continues to be, intense. The Nation is anxious to learn who will be our next president and is grappling with the outcomes of many propositions and measures.

For the second year in a row, the California EDGE Coalition was awarded a grant partnership for the Bay Area-based project, ReWork the Bay.

A lot is happening on the California ballot this election, but one thing the CA EDGE Coalition is paying very close attention to is Proposition 16.

The California EDGE Coalition Board and staff are heartbroken over the loss of our amazing Board Vice President, Dr. Alma Salazar.

An updated Heroes Act proposal was released this week with a price tag of $2.2 trillion dollars (the original proposal was $3.4 trillion). As the Governor mentions in his statement, we have an October 15th budget trigger that if we don’t get federal aid, various budget cuts will be made.

On August 31st, the California Legislature concluded the 2019/2020 two-year legislative session, which proved to be one of the most historic, challenging and complex sessions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While in the midst of a global pandemic and economic recession, destructive wildfires, and the uprise of racial injustices across the nation, lawmakers ended the legislative year in a late-night voting session advancing critical priorities seeking to help Californians impacted by the pandemic.

The CA EDGE Coalition submitted a comment letter to the Future of Work Commission expressing the importance of ensuring all Californians have quality jobs that provide a living wage, stability, access to benefits and have opportunities for training and career advancement.
